about TCS
From the Director:
Today’s six year old will be a college student in 2025. His world will be distinctly different from the world we live in today. Habits of mind that he develops in his elementary and middle school years will determine his success and happiness in 2025 and beyond.
To be successful in college and in his life’s work, your child will need to be a collaborative problem solver. At Cooper School, she will have the opportunity to solve mathematical, spatial, and social problems with her peers each week as she engages in project‐based learning. Teachers will guide her as she develops her critical thinking skills in order to solve increasingly complex problems.
Your child’s success will be based in his ability to communicate clearly with a wide variety of people for diverse reasons. At Cooper School, these complex communication skills develop as he writes persuasive essays about the environment, presents his original musical compositions and reads his poetry to an audience of hundreds.
To be happy your child will need to be able to live and work in a diverse world community. She will develop her emotional intelligence at Cooper School when she learns specific skills for self‐advocacy and self‐articulation. Not only will she be self‐smart, she will become world‐wise as she learns to take the perspective of others, act with empathy and understanding and successfully resolve conflicts at Morning Meeting and the Peace Table.
At Cooper School we understand that we are laying the foundation for a lifetime of success and happiness. Each day at Cooper School your child will participate in work that is purposeful, relevant, and engaging. Here, your child will develop habits of mind that will prepare him for a lifetime of creativity and productivity.
